Lyons, Ellinwood Organizations Receive Tourism Grants

TOPEKA, Kan. — Today, Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland announced that more than $400,000 has been awarded for projects that will boost tourism throughout the state. Funding from the Attraction Development Grant program will be divided among 13 entities. 

Among grant recipients in the area are the Rice County Historical Society, receiving $59,990, and the Historic Wolf Hotel Foundation as the Ellinwood Underground City Foundation which was awarded $18,842.20.

According to the Kansas Department of Commerce, the grant program is an initiative designed to provide financial assistance to public, private and nonprofit entities to invest in enhancing tourism across the state. Through job creation, capital investment, higher revenue and increased visitation, the initiative is meant to create a positive economic impact for the state of Kansas and its communities.
