RICE COUNTY, Kan. — Rice County will have a new sheriff come January, as Nicholas Sowers defeated incumbent Bryant Evans 59 to 41 percent in Tuesday’s Republican Primary.
In the 20th Judicial District, Barton County Attorney Levi Morris won his primary over Ellinwood Attorney Robert Anderson II. Morris will be unopposed in November to succeed retiring Division 2 Judge Steven Morris.
State Representative Tory Marie Blew of Great Bend won the Republican nomination from the 33rd district by a nearly 2-1 margin over John Sturn of Ellinwood. Blew will face Democrat Matthew Westenfeld of Lyons in November.
Representative Tracey Mann won the Republican nomination from District 1 against Eric Bloom.
Incumbent Tracey Mann will run against Paul Buskirk (DEM) in the General Election Nov. 5.
