About The Scene

In an effort to give back to the music community, Frankie Shayne hatched the idea of starting a radio show that showcased local musicians. It hearkens back to the days when artists were broke on local radio first. The Scene is a sounding board for local artists to have their music heard, and gives you, the listener, a chance to get to know them. The sign-off for the show sums it all up, "Dare to believe."

Brought to you by Sparks Music, The Scene is on the air every Sunday evening at 7:00 pm in Hutchinson and Lyons via Kansas Rocks 100.3 and in McPherson and Salina via Smoky Hills Rock 95.5. Your host, Frankie Shayne, highlights local musicians who have put everything into their musical craft.

The roster is always evolving with new artists, new styles, new genres...and yes, it may (okay...it will) get crazy! Don't shy away though. Our content is radio-friendly. Maybe not "politically correct", but definitely radio-friendly.

Meet the Host

Frankie Shayne

Frankie Shayne is a veteran of the local music scene and has played in numerous bands. His most recent ones are Soapbox Troubadors and ZeroSelf: Project. He has also been known to sing in numerous talent competitions and singing contests. He's won the Hutchfest Talent show in 2009, Sedgwick County Fair Idol, Abbyville Idol, and Newton's Got Talent. Frankie was featured on the Season 5 premiere episode of Gospel Dream. At the heart of it all is his love of music and the power music has to reach deep into a person's soul and speak to them when words alone cannot.
