1936-2025
Verna Lee Reazin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, community leader, and dedicated bookkeeper, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025. Born May 11, 1936, in Elkhart, Ks to Ivan and Netlie Simmons, Verna spent her formative years in Rolla and Elkhart, Kansas.
On June 12, 1955, she married the love of her life, Eldon DeLoss Reazin. Their union blessed them with three children: Lynda Reazin (spouse Scott) of Wichita, Kansas; Rhonda Boone (spouse Ron) of Elkhart, Kansas; and Lonnie Reazin (spouse Sheila) of MoorelarId, Oklahoma. Verna's family was her pride and joy, and her legacy extends to her five grandchildren: Ka ley Slocum (spouse Gentry) of Hugoton, Kansas; Talor Spencer (spouse Collin) of Edrnond, Oklahoma; Ali Boaldin of Yukon, Oklahoma; Dalton Reazin (spouse Kylee) of Jones, Oklahoma; and Lane Reazin of Jones, Oklahoma. She cherished her five great-grandchildren: Abigail Slocum, Carson Slocum, Wyatt Boaldin, Nash Spencer, and Revv Spencer,
Verna dedicated three decades of her life to the Elkhart Coop, serving as a trusted bookkeeper until her retirement. Her commitment to her community extended beyond her profession. She served two terms on the EIkhart City Council and made history in 1984 as the city's first female mayor, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to public service.
Verna was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Eldon Reazin; her parents; and two brothers, Ivan J. Simmons and Gary L. Simmons.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brother Jerry Simmons of Charlotte, North Carolina, and sisters-in-law Ruth Simmons of Nocona, Texas, and Laurie Simmons of Elkhart, Kansas. Along with a host of nieces and nephews
Verna will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her compassionate heart, along with her Christmas cinnamon rolls and Thanksgiving croissants, along with unwavering dedication to her family and friends and her pioneering spirit. Her memory will be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her. Services pending in July.
