1946-2025

Robert A. “Bob” Goertz, 78, of Hutchinson, died March 22, 2025, at Agape Home Plus in Wichita. He was born July 30, 1946, in Hillsboro, to Rudolph “Rudy” S. and Rita A. (Detmer) Goertz.

Bob graduated from Zenda High School in 1964 and received his Master Mechanic diploma from Denver Automotive Institute in 1965. He was the president and owner of Bob Goertz Auto from 1990-2023. Bob was a member of Church of the Holy Cross, Knights of Columbus Council #7279, and Automotive Service Association. He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America and served as Cubmaster/Scoutmaster for Pack/Troop 303. Most of all, Bob loved spending time with his family.

On November 13, 1965, he married Jeannine K. Zink, in Stockton. They shared 59 years of marriage.

Bob is survived by: his wife, Jeannine of Hutchinson; children, Renee Gates (Randall) of Manhattan, Jim Goertz (Tammy), Darren Goertz (Aubrey), Chris Goertz, Jason Goertz, all of Hutchinson; 20 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ronald Goertz (Carolyn) of Wichita, Barbara Swingle (Kenny) of Zenda, Jane Goetz (Steve) of Hutchinson, Doris Josephson (Jeff) of Olathe, Paul Goertz (Jan) of Pratt, Loretta Kerschen (Pat) of Harper, Susie Chambers (Jeff) of Lindsborg, Rosalie Blosser (Terry) of Newton, Joe Goertz (Debbie) of Hutchinson; aunt, Mary Lou Osner of Pratt; uncle, Lonnie Detmer (Trevlyn) of Pratt; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandson, Waylon Beshears.

Cremation has taken place.

Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 30, 2025, both at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Rd., Hutchinson. Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday thru Friday, with the family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agape Home Plus, Knights of Columbus Council #7279, or Cub Scout Pack 303, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
