1953-2025
Richard S. Bauma, 71, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, at Wichita, Ks.
He was born Oct. 21, 1953, at Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Col. Charles R. and Janet Addy Bauma. A longtime resident of Arvada, Colorado, moving to Kingman 10 years ago, he was a chemical engineer for the Rocky Flats Plant, a nuclear weapons parts manufacturer in Colorado.
Richard was a member of the “Cold War Warriors”; and was a supporter and board member of the North Jeffco Junior Baseball Association, where he coached little league and high school baseball.
On June 15, 1974, he married his high school sweetheart, Susan Neale, at Wheat Ridge, Colorado. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past summer. Other survivors include son Brett (Whitney); daughter Jennifer (Patrick) Hirsch; sister Jill Cackowski; and grandchildren Rylee Hirsch and Bryce and Mackenzie Bauma. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Judy King.
Richard was a wonderful husband, the best father and an amazing grandfather. He taught his children to love sports and rock ‘n roll; was known as the King of Dad Jokes; and would never turn down sweets of any kind. He was very close to his grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Papa”.
Private family services will be at a later date.
