Raye Lynn MoranCherryvale, KS

Raye Lynn Moran of Cherryvale Kansas passed away on March 15, 2025 at Labette Health in Parsons Kansas. She was 73 years old.

Raye Lynn Smith was born on October 16th, 1951 to James and Vera (Anderson) Smith. She was born in Independence Kansas and was raised in Cherryvale Kansas. She attended Catholic School as a child and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1969.

Her first marriage produced one child, Michael Andrew McDannel in 1970. After divorcing, Raye moved to the Emporia Kansas area. She married David Wesley Moran in 1977 and gave birth to a son, Jesse David Moran in 1978. A daughter, Erin Elizabeth Moran was born in 1983.

After divorcing in 2001, Raye Lynn returned to Cherryvale where she lived for the remainder of her life.

Raye Lynn enjoyed working in her yard, riding her bike, birdwatching, and spending time with friends and family. She was always smiling and had an infectious laugh. Those who knew her well might say she was stubborn as a mule.

Raye Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Vera (Anderson) Smith, brothers John Smith and Dave Smith, and sister Cindy (Smith) Perez. She is survived by sister Debbie (Ron) Hagan, Cousin Linda (Chet) Hensen, and in-laws Beth (John) Smith and Paul (Cindy) Perez as well as her children Michael Moran, Jesse Moran, and Erin (Moran) Lingenfelter. Numerous grandchildren will carry her in their memories.

A visitation will be held on March 25, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Wickham Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, located at 216 E 4th St, Cherryvale, Kansas. Raye Lynn Moran's spirit will forever remain a cherished part of the lives she touched.
