1933-2025
N. Darlene McDorman, 91, passed away March 16, 2025, at The University of Kansas Health Systems – Great Bend, Kansas. She was born on August 20, 1933, in Galva, Kansas, to Dan and Ruby (Wirtz) Venters. On May 16, 1953, she married Leroy “Mac” McDorman at Plainville, Kansas. He passed on December 31, 2013.
A Great Bend resident since 1966, coming from Russell, Kansas, Darlene was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Darlene was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her family was her most precious gift.
Survivors include one son, Jay McDorman and wife Kimberly of Wichita; two daughters, Cindy Christiansen and husband Dave of McPherson, and Sheri Williams and husband Jim of McKinney, Texas; six grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and brother, Jim Venters and wife Judy of Mountain Home, Arkansas.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sisters, Jean Mason and Elaine Lambert.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Bryant Funeral Home, with her son-in-law, Jim Williams, presiding. Private family inurnment will follow at a later date. Memorials have been designated to the Great Bend Senior Center for bus rides, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
