Mildred Arlene Rupp, 91, of Nickerson, Kansas, passed away December 30, 2024, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. She was born November 8, 1933, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Jesse Lee and Ethel Blanche (Brown) Pike. Mildred was a lifelong Reno County resident. She graduated from Nickerson High School, with the class of 1951. Mildred was a farm wife and owner and operator of S&M Upholstery in Sterling. She was a member of the Sterling Evangelical Bible Church, rural Sterling, and a member of the Salem Church, Nickerson. Mildred enjoyed following the rodeo circuit, traveling and spending winters in Texas in the RV. On June 1, 1952, Mildred was united in marriage with Richard D. “Dick” Rupp in Nickerson. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2003. She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, Greig Rupp; and sister, Doris Pike. Mildred Is survived by her two sons, Ricky Rupp of Sterling, KS, and Brent Rupp of Hutchinson, KS; daughter, Sherry Gibson of Hutchinson, KS; nine grandchildren, Chad and Carrie of Hutchinson, KS, Vicki of Junction City, KS, Eric and Rachel of Hutchinson, KS, Zach, Shane of Lyons, KS, Lauren of Hutchinson, KS, Daniel of Sterling, KS, Ryan of Kansas City, and Christopher of Hutchinson, KS; and twelve great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Megan, Logan, Isabel, Isaac, Layla, Riley, Elaina, Scarlette, Zoey, Zayden, and Kadence. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 3, 2025, at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling, with Pastor George Hinton officiating. Burial will follow at the Sterling Evangelical Bible Church Cemetery, rural Sterling. Memorials may be given to Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
