Marshel “Ray” McVey
1947-2025

Marshel "Ray" McVey, born on May 25, 1947, in Cragford, Alabama, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 1, 2025, at the Bob Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

Ray was the beloved son of Martiel and Clarence McVey and grew up alongside his five siblings. A proud veteran, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and later in Germany, where he met the love of his life, Christa. The two were married for 51 wonderful years and built a life filled with love and cherished memories.

After his military service, Ray enjoyed a successful career at Boeing and Spirit AeroSystems before retiring to spend more time with his family and pursue his passions. He was a kind-hearted man who found joy in making others happy.

Ray deeply loved his children, Stephan (Spouse, Cindy) and Vanessa ( Spouse, Rob), and adored his grandchildren Kaila, Kiefer, Trevor, Ethan, Bailey, and Gavin. His two loyal German shepherds, Eis and Fritz, also held a special place in his heart.

In his free time, Ray could often be found at Hulah Lake in Oklahoma working on his cabin or enjoying fishing, boating, jeep adventures, and cooking what many considered the best steak ever. He also treasured playing cards with family gatherings that brought everyone together in laughter and camaraderie.

Ray's warmth and generosity touched all who knew him. His legacy of love will live on through the countless lives he impacted. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
