Lucas A. AveryHutchinson, KS

Lucas Allen Avery, 38, of Hutchinson, died January 3, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born December 2, 1986, in Hutchison, to Franklin James Avery and Shauna Lee (Lucas) Eash.

Lucas graduated from Hutchinson High School in 2005. He proudly served in the US Army for 6 years before medically retiring in 2013. Lucas was known for his sense of humor and ability to make those around him smile regardless of the situation. He enjoyed fishing and had a knack for repairing motors, working on just about any he could get his hands on. Lucas was a Christmas fanatic. He loved everything about it, especially decorating. He was well known for his elf costume. A loving and caring father, husband, son, brother and friend, Lucas enjoyed spending time with his children more than anything.

On January 21, 2006, he married Shayla Morton, in Hutchinson.

Lucas is survived by: wife; children, Carl Pfenninger, Trenton, Taylor, and Caylee Avery, and Horace Harrison, Hutchinson; parents, Shauna Lucas Eash and Frank (Kristi Oxley) Avery, Hutchinson; fathers-in-law, Larry (Jody) Miller, Hutchinson, Von (Sheryl) Morton; brother, James (Kali) Avery, South Hutchinson, and Josh Avery; sister, Madison Nicodeums; aunt, Robyn (Robbie) Lucas; brothers-in-law, Shane Morton and Jeremy (Candace) Campbell; close cousin, Cody (Erica) Lucas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his grandparents Bobbie Kocher and Robert “Bob” Lucas.

Friends may sign the book daily 9-5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. There will be a visitation with the family present at CrossPoint Church, 1410 E. 30th, Friday, January 17, 2025 from 5–7 p.m. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2024, at CrossPoint Church with pastor Andy Addis officiating.
