1947-2025

Joyce A. Crawford, a beloved mother, grandmother, and member of the Neodesha community, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Wilson Medical Center in Neodesha, Kansas. She was 77.

Born June 9, 1947, in Fredonia, Kansas, to Thomas M. and Reva (Lee) Wilson, Joyce was a descendant of Robert E. Lee. She married Kenneth S. Crawford on August 27, 1965, in Fredonia, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love and family. For 35 years, Joyce dedicated her professional life as a material manager at Wilson Medical Center, retiring in 2015.

Beyond her career, Joyce's life was enriched by her deep faith as a member of Grace Baptist Church and its women's group. She cherished time spent camping, skiing, and enjoying the lake, and was known for her exceptional cooking skills, creating special dishes for each of her grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her four children: JoAnne “Jody” Davis and husband Sam; Terri Ruiz and husband Craig of Edmond, Oklahoma; Lisa King of Oologah, Oklahoma; and Jerry Crawford of Neodesha, Kansas. She is also survived by her siblings: Dale Wilson of El Dorado, Kansas; Dean Wilson of Topeka, Kansas; and Billy Wilson (Sharon) of Fredonia, Kansas. She leaves behind a legacy of love encompassing ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Larry Wilson.

A funeral service celebrating Joyce’s life will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Neodesha, Kansas. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Neodesha Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home, 420 S. 20th St., P.O. Box 247, Fredonia, KS 66736. Memorials are suggested to Grace Baptist Church, and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.. Joyce will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
