Jerry West Sr.Richmond, KS

Jerry West, age 75, of Richmond, Kansas, passed away with family by his side on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Richmond Healthcare.

Jerry Kirk West Sr. was born on March 27, 1949, to John and Elzorah (Cobb) West, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Jerry attended school in Shawnee Mission and eventually went to work as a pipe insulator for the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators Union. Jerry was united in marriage to Evelyn West on June 12, 1978, in Enid, Oklahoma.

Jerry was a simple man, had a kind heart, but was to the point. There was no denying he had a passion for cars. He was a great bargainer and would always be looking for a good deal to make. You could often find Jerry on his tractor or tending to his cows. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Jerry had a passion for fishing, whether it was in family farm ponds or shark fishing at Padre Island. A couple of other pastime time hobbies were a game of pool with his buddies or spending a relaxing afternoon on the golf course. He loved tuning into watching westerns or a good golf channel in his spare time.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Evelyn West; siblings, Georgia Splain and Johnny West.

He is survived by son Jerry West III and wife Megan of Garnett, Kansas and their children Elijah and Hexleigh; siblings, Jackie Palmer of Overland Park, Kansas, Jo-Dee Mueller of Overland Park, Kansas, Janice Vanlerberg and husband Bernie of Bonner Springs, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Jerry's Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas.
