Jerry Leon Brawner, 74, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 12, 2025, at Thorne Care Center-Wesley Towers. He was born Dec. 20, 1950, to Arlie and Mildred (Whitaker) Brawner in Hutchinson.
Jerry attended Hutchinson High School and served in the Army National Guard. He worked in the car sales business at Conklin Cars and Midway Motors for 26 years before retiring as sales manager in 2018. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, and watching sports especially KU basketball and Chiefs football.
On Sept. 20, 1983, he married Janice K. “Jan” Drake in Las Vegas. She passed Oct. 15, 2006. They were married for 23 years.
Jerry is survived by: a daughter, Allie Holycross and husband, Jeff, of Oundle, England, UK; a brother, Ronnie Brawner of Gardner; two sisters-in-law, Tess Egbert and husband, Brian, and Donna Drake of Hutchinson; two brothers-in-law, Dan Drake and wife, Claudia, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Terry Drake and wife, Carol, of Ingleside, Texas, and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his: parents; wife; brothers, Delmar, Bill, Larry and Jim Brawner; sisters, Norma Ardolino and Clarissa Hoss.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 1 pm Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary with Deacon Todd Ray officiating. Family and friends may sign his book from 9am – 5pm. The family has requested you wear KU, Chiefs, or your favorite sports team attire. After the service, the Celebration will continue at the Lake Talbot East building on the Kansas State Fairgrounds (23rd Ave entrance) to watch that afternoon’s KU basketball game.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice House where his wife Jan received care or Straub Foundation through Straub Benioff Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawai’i, where he received great care after his heart attack in 2017, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St., Hutchinson, KS 65701.
