She attended South Diamond schools.
Irene was united in marriage to Vernon Unruh on January 21, 1951 at the Lone Tree Mennonite Church. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2014.
She was a member of the Gospel Mennonite Church in Moundridge.
Irene was a devoted homemaker. She also worked at the Moundridge Senior Center as a dietary aide.
She is survived by her son, Mark (Lesia) Unruh of Moundridge; daughter, Connie (Robert) Jantz of Moundridge; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Koehn of Scott City and Linda Koehn of Moundridge; and extended family, Wanetta Unruh of Farmington, KY, and Ethel (Monroe) Koehn of Moundridge.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dale Dennis Unruh; and brothers, Lloyd Koehn, Alvin Koehn, Edwin Koehn, and Marvin Koehn.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2025 at the Lone Tree Mennonite Church, rural Galva. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, April 5 at the Moundridge Funeral Home, with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Old General Offices, 420 N Wedel, Moundridge, KS.
