1941-2024
Elizabeth (Betty) M. Sanders passed away on December 29, 2024, at the Life Care Center in Burlington, Kansas. Betty was raised in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, where she graduated from high school and went on to graduate from Pennsylvania State University, hardly ever missing the opportunity to watch a Penn State game. Betty was a school teacher for many years before going to work for Kansas Gas and Electric in Wichita, Kansas. She then moved to Burlington and worked at the Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant until her retirement. Betty was a member of the Burlington Methodist Church where she played the piano and organ for many years and she played music for this past Easter Sunday service which her church family enjoyed very much. Betty was an avid card player and her favorite card game was bridge. She had a wonderful group of friends in Kansas and Oklahoma that continued to get together to play cards and spend time with until her health did not allow that.
Betty is survived by her daughter Lori and sister Jane; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends in Burlington and the surrounding area.
