Dorothy Ruth Beltz, 103, died April 6, 2025, at her home in Hutchinson. She was born May 10, 1921, in Durham, KS, to Jake and Anna (Ewert) Beltz.
Dorothy worked from 1944-54 at the Richards-Scheble Candy Company. She then worked for Wiley’s Department Store in the housewares department as a sales clerk and for the former Kay’s Floral. From 1954 to 1973, Dorothy was a member of the Hutchinson Community College Alumni Association. She volunteered weekly for Meals on Wheels for 35 years, cheerfully delivering meals to the homebound. Dorothy was a helpful and thoughtful friend, always willing to help others, whether it was shopping for groceries or driving friends to doctor appointments.
Dorothy is survived by her niece Rita Johnson, great nieces Jennifer Johnson and Jill Lee (Adam), great nephew Jay Johnson (Jennifer), many beloved cousins and her Mission Place family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters and a nephew.
Funeral service will be 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary, with Dorothy’s great-nephew, Jay Johnson officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, with the family receiving friends following her service Saturday at Elliott Mortuary. Private family inurnment will take place in Durham Baptist Cemetery, Durham, KS.
