Dennis Dean WedelGalva, KS

Dennis Dean Wedel was born on August 19, 1948 in McPherson, Kansas. He started his education at Lily School, then Liberty School and finished elementary school at United Center School. He went to high School at Galva High School and attended 2 years of college at Central Christian College before being drafted.

After being drafted he joined the Marines and was promoted to Lance Corporal.

After his tour of duty he came back to his home town and his future wife Linda. They were married May 5, 1973.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Irby and Lucile Wedel; and brother, Charlie Wedel.

He is survived by; his beloved wife, Linda (Havlik)Wedel; his children Laura Sandbo and husband Matt; Emily Allen and husband Blake; Koren Farrington and husband Chris; Nick Wedel and wife Katie; 9 grandchildren, plus one on the way; brother, Dale Wedel; sisters, Rita Ek, Debbie Heitzenrater and husband Bill, and Karla Jones and husband Galen; and sister-in-law, Gail Wedel.

Cremation is planned with memorial services at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 24, 2025 at the United Center Mennonite Church, rural Galva. Inurnment will follow at the Canton Township Cemetery with military honors. Following the burial, a luncheon will be held at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation in care of Olson’s Mortuary, PO Box 355, Canton, KS 67428.
