1939-2025
David A. Wallace, 85, entered heaven March 15, 2025. He was born December 31, 1939, in rural Waterloo, the son of James Wallace and Opal Nunemaker Wallace.
David graduated from Kingman High School in 1957. Five days after turning 18, he joined the United States Navy. He remained in the Navy for 21 years earning the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. One of his most memorable experiences was when he was transferred between moving ships (high lined) while on patrol in the Mediterranean Sea. He retired and began working for the Don Dye Company while he was still on active duty. He was employed by the Don Dye Company for 27 years, retiring as their purchasing agent and secretary/treasurer.
While on leave, he married Glennice Barton on October 21, 1962. After a short honeymoon in Wichita, they returned to his duty station in the Panama Canal Zone. He jokes they “honeymooned in Panama and returned to the United States with two kids.” They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 2024.
David loved Jesus, his family, and visiting with neighbors and friends. His strong, unwavering Christian faith and his sense of humor defined his personality. He loved sharing the message of salvation and telling jokes - even on his last few days on earth. He told stories to everyone he met and simply enjoyed being around others. He was a long-time member of the Kingman First Baptist Church, and he truly loved being a part of his church family. He said the best, most sincere prayers. At family gatherings he was always asked to say the prayer…he never hesitated, simply bowed his head and spoke sincerely to God.
David was preceded in death by his father, James Wallace; mother, Opal Nunemaker Wallace; Brothers Bill, Howard, Jack and John, his sister Darlene Linn, brother-in-law James Linn.
David is survived by his wife, Glennice; children Jeff (Renee’) of Kingwood, Texas; Mark (Mile’) of Topeka, Kansas; and Tammy Dixon (Steve) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; sister Dolly (James) Gaede; sister Donna (David) Younger; sister-in-law Margie Wallace and sister-in-law Bette Wedgewood. Proud grandfather of Ally, her husband Josh, and grandsons Reece and Michael.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2025 pm at the Kingman First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Livingston Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at the Waterloo Cemetery.
