1948-2025
Clinton Bernard Brewer, 76, died March 18, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born October 13, 1948, in Hutchinson, to Jack and Frances (Bergen) Brewer.
Clinton was a dedicated craftsman whose varied careers spanned multiple fields. He worked as a surveyor for the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, a builder, and later retired from Hutchinson Hospital’s maintenance department. A passionate athlete, he was an avid softball player and found great joy in fishing, hunting, and dancing. Clinton was a devoted sports fan, cheering for KU basketball, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Kansas City Royals, and the Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons. He was a proud member of the Hutchinson Moose Lodge #982 and a man of faith, attending Eastwood Church of Christ before becoming a member of First Christian Church in Hutchinson.
On February 21, 1968, he married his high school sweetheart, Verla Marie Elliott, in Hutchinson.
Clinton is survived by: his wife of over 57 years, Verla of Hutchinson; daughters, Carrie Brewer of Salina and Penny Bettles of Hutchinson; son-in-law, Mike Bettles of Salina; grandchildren, Rachel Storm, Mason Bettles, Bryson Bettles, and Jaxson Bettles; great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Storm; and sister-in-law, Anita Brewer, all of Salina.
He was preceded in death by: his daughter, Jennefer Brewer; mother, Frances Gould; stepfather, Earl Gould; brother, Jack Brewer Jr.; sister, Linda Briner; and mother-in-law, Verne Harsh.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Private family inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.
