1932-2025
Clara Louise Goodrich, 92, passed away March 12, 2025 at Country Living Memory Care of Larned, Larned, Kansas.
She was born November 17, 1932 in Hastings, Nebraska, the daughter of Orin Lee and Mildred Mauck Goodrich. Clara moved to Kansas in 1973 where she was a Music Therapist and the Music Therapy Supervisor from 1976-1993 at Larned State Hospital and also volunteered with non-English-speaking patients there. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1950, Hastings College with a BA in 1954, studied voice at the University of Michigan, Music Therapy at University of Kansas, Occupational Therapy Assistant in 1982 from Barton County Community College and took some Spanish Language courses from Fort Hays State University in 1964.
Clara was raised in the First Christian Church in Hastings, Nebraska and was a member of the First Christian Church, Christian Women Fellowship, Worship Committee and the Church Choir in Larned, Kansas. She was also a member of the Larned Music Club, National Association for Music Therapy, American Occupational Therapy Association, Santa Fe Trail Association, Wet/Dry Routes Chapter of the S.F.T.A. and she served in the Women’s Army Corps from 1955 to 1957.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2025 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Pastor Damon Bradley presiding. Service will be viewable via Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/beckwithmortuary. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Beckwith Mortuary. Burial will be held at a later time at Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, NE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to the Larned State Hospital Activity Therapy Department (Music) in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Box 477 Larned, KS 67550.
