Alice Faye Cass (Prater), age 73, of Welda, Kansas, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas.
She was born on April 24, 1951, at Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Earl E. and Laura M. (Parker) Cass. Alice attended school in Garnett and graduated with the Class of 1969. After high school she was united in marriage to James Prater on June 14, 1969. This union was blessed with one son, Mike Prater. Alice and James lived the gypsy lifestyle, calling many places home. Later in life they settled in Kansas, and eventually parted ways.
Alice dedicated over 20 years to Warner's sewing factory, and in her later years she was a cook at the Anderson and Franklin County Detention Centers. Despite the challenges that came with her health declining, Alice's incredible work ethic and strong spirit never faltered. She remained a source of strength and inspiration to those who knew her.
Alice lived a life filled with passion, adventure, and love. She was known for her boundless creativity, expressed through her love of cooking and sewing. Alice's skill in the kitchen and her sewing projects were a reflection of her hands-on approach to life, always making others feel special with her thoughtful creations. A true adventurer at heart, Alice loved riding horses and traveling, seeking out new experiences and creating lasting memories along the way. She had a sharp wit and a fiercely outspoken personality, always ready with a clever remark or an honest opinion. Her family was everything to her, and she dedicated her life to their well-being and happiness. Alice had an undeniable sweet tooth and a particular fondness for Pepsi, indulgences she never shied away from. She also adored her Shih Tzus, whose companionship brought her much joy and comfort over the years.
