Alanna Kay King, 56, died January 24, 2025, at Sandpiper HealthCare and Rehabilitation, Wichita. She was born December 28, 1968, in Thermopolis, WY, to Richard Howard and Patricia Kay (Wise) King.
Alanna graduated from Pratt High School in 1987 and earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Wichita State University in 1991. She worked as a social worker in for over 20 years in both Wichita and Hutchinson.
A member of Countryside Baptist Church, Hutchinson, Alanna loved God immensely. Even though she wasn’t able to physically attend church the last several years, she enjoyed watching it online and having discussions about the Bible, especially with her nephews.
Alanna absolutely adored reading, cherished family nights filled with movies and games, stood up for disabled people's rights, and proudly created a support group for amputees at Sandpiper HealthCare and Rehabilitation in Wichita. Her most favorite hobby was boasting about her nephews who she loved dearly.
Alanna is survived by: her sister, MeLissa King of Hutchinson; nephews, David Rodgers, and Mykal D. King both of Hutchinson; aunts and uncles, Penny and Louis Chavez of Colorado and Gloria and Jesus Cantor of Texas; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, William “Earl” King; and nephews, Zane and Jay.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Countryside Baptist Church, 819 W. 30th, Hutchinson, presided by Pastor Ron Kyker. The family will be wearing purple in her memory and welcomes everyone to join them in wearing purple as well. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, at 3 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her honor to Limbs for Life, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
