MMS Girls Wrestlers Finish 14-10 in Newton Mixer

NEWTON, Kan. – The McPherson Middle School Girls Wrestling team competed in a wrestling mixer on Tuesday, where they finished 14-10 as a team.

Individuals who finished undefeated (2-0) included: Addie French, McKenna Paul, Amara Dossett, Riley Clemmons, and Amia Barrera.

Head Coach Matt McCasland said, “Addie and McKenna were definitely standout performers tonight.” He said, “They are really putting things together, and we are seeing a lot of the pieces that we cover in practice come out in their matches. They are extremely coachable, and they have come extremely far in just 6 weeks.”

McCasland added, “Our staff is always so proud of these girls regardless of our result. We had some tough matchups, and we made some mistakes that cost us a few matches that could have gone either way.” He concluded by saying, “Everyone is so new to the sport, that we expect some growing pains here and there. We have watched this group dominate several competitions throughout our season. We will talk through some things in practice tomorrow, and I fully expect them to come out ready to go on Thursday.”
