Pawnee County Special Liquor by the Drink Ballot Question

PAWNEE COUNTY, Kan. — A Liquor by the Drink Ballot Question will appear on the backside of this year’s Pawnee County General Election Ballot on Nov. 5, 2024.

Pawnee County Attorney Douglas W. McNett shared that all licensed drinking establishments in Pawnee County that offer alcoholic liquor for consumption by the individual drink are currently required to derive at least 30 percent of their gross receipts from the sales of food.

“In February, the Board of County Commissioners of Pawnee County, Kansas, determined that the voters should be given a choice as to the appropriate restriction to the sale of alcoholic liquor for consumption by the individual drink in Pawnee County, Kansas,” McNett said.

A YES vote would eliminate the 30 percent food sales requirement, and a NO vote would maintain the current 30 percent food sales requirement.

If passed, the new rule would become effective Jan. 1, 2025.
