Kansas Tourism Awards $400K for Projects to Boost Tourism Across Kansas

TOPEKA, Kan. — Today, Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland announced that more than $400,000 has been awarded for projects that will boost tourism throughout the state. Funding from the Attraction Development Grant program will be divided among 13 entities. 

Two of the grant awardees are in Bourbon County, T. E. Freeman Studio LLC receiving $25,000 and the Lowell Miliken Center for Unsung Heroes which will receive $6,300. One other grant awarded in southeast Kansas went to Cherokee County for $25,000.

According to the Kansas Department of Commerce, the grant program is an initiative designed to provide financial assistance to public, private and nonprofit entities to invest in enhancing tourism across the state. Through job creation, capital investment, higher revenue and increased visitation, the initiative is meant to create a positive economic impact for the state of Kansas and its communities.
