IOLA, Kan. — The Humboldt Lions Club will be having their annual Mike Rickner Memorial Fireworks Display Wednesday evening at disk at the golf course. Prior to the fireworks show there will be a display of remote-control model airplanes. There will also be fireworks after Friday night’s races at Humboldt Speedway There’s also fireworks tonight in Mulberry at the Ball Park, and a hot dog and watermelon feed at 6:30. Eureka is also having fireworks tonight at 10 at City Park where there will be a cookout starting at 6 along with music by Vegan Shark and former Voice Contestant Savanna Chestnut. Eureka also has a parade Thursday morning at 10:30 on Main Street.

The Allen County Historical Society will be closed Thursday for the 4th of July but will be open today and Friday as usual.

Among the other fireworks displays on the 4th around the area, the Hepler Ruritan Club will have fireworks at the conclusion of Thursday’ performance of their Rodeo and Celebration. Fort Scott will have their fireworks Saturday evening at the Fort Scott Community College softball fields, with viewing along Horton Street. In Fredonia, their 4th of July events are going on all day at Rotary Park including a poker run, watermelon feed, bingo, kids games, music and more along with a barbecue at 5.

The Iola Swimming Pool will be closing early Thursday, at 6 PM, for the 4th of July.

It may be the 4th of July, but it is a Thursday, and the Iola Municipal Band will have their Weekly Concert Thursday evening at 8 at the Bandstand on the northwest corner of the Square. As part of it the Iola Mustang Band is having a fundraiser ice cream social and bake sale starting at 7. Proceeds from both will benefit the Iola Mustang Regiment as they are raising funds to travel to Washington, DC in 2025.

As part of Toronto Days, they will be having their fireworks show this evening at dusk at Toronto Point. Before and after the show there will be live music with Hummer and The Others at Getty’s Bar. Saturday evenings in Toronto get underway at 7:30 AM with a biscuit and gravy feed at the Masonic Lodge. There will be food and other vendors all day on main, with the parade at 11 and a car show following the parade, Also after the parade will be a hamburger feed, kids water games, and a cornhole tournament during the afternoon. The weigh-in for the Big Cat Contest will be at 4:30 at Cross Eye Catfsh, and Saturday evening Hummer and The Others will be at Getty’s bar from 5-8 and Trevor Holman and the Haymakers will have a street dance on Main Street at 8. A mud volleyball tournament concludes the day’s activities.

Altoona will also have fireworks on Saturday night in the City Park as part of Altoona Days. Events for that start tonight with a cornhole tournament with other events planned on Saturday
