Fatal Fire in La Harpe Monday Morning, Cause of Fire Under Investigation

La HARPE, Kan. — One person is dead after an early Monday morning fire in La Harpe.

According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, the La Harpe Volunteer Fire Department and Allen County Deputies responded just before 7 AM to the report of a structure fire in the 400 block of South Broadway.

On arrival the single story residence was found engulfed in flames. It took several hours to extinguish, after which a body was found.

The identity of the person killed has not been officially released and an autopsy is being conducted.

The Office of the Kansas State Fire Marshal was brought in to investigate the cause of the fire.
