Chanute based Community National Bank and Trust is making a further expansion into south central Kansas.
Community National, which operates 40 locations in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma including branches in Humboldt and Iola, has entered into an agreement to acquire the parent company of Prairie Bank of Kansas in Stafford.
Prairie Bank also has branches in Buhler, Hutchinson and Inman, and has been in business for 135 years under various names. Community National already has a number of branches in the Wichita area.
Community Bank’s president and CEO Dan Mildfelt said combining the resources of the two strong and well-respected community banks will ensure an excellent commitment to the great communities Prairie Bank has serviced so well for over 135 years.
Prairie Bank CEO James Richardson said they are pleased to be associated with a very community-oriented bank that will continue to provide the one-on-one service their customers have come to expect.
Pending regulatory approval, the merger is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2025.
