HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Recreation Commission announces the promotion of two staff members to start the New Year.
Kelsey Loutensock was promoted to Director of Sports & Aquatics on Jan. 1. Loutensock started at Hutch Rec as the Aquatics and Special Events Manager on April 1, 2024 with past parks and recreation experience at Hesston Recreation, where she was the Assistant Recreation Director/Aquatics Director. Loutensock attended both Hesston College and Tabor College, where she received a bachelor’s degree in sports management.
In her new role at Hutch Rec, Loutensock is responsible for the sports operations and programs. She will continue to manage Hutch Rec Race Series events and oversee the daily operations at the seasonal Salt City Splash Aquatic Center.
Denice Gilliland was promoted to Director of Community Initiatives on Jan. 1. Gilliland started at Hutch Rec as the Neighborhood Development Manager on June 1, 2023. Prior to Hutch Rec, Gilliland worked at the United Way of Reno County and has a diverse background in the business and nonprofit sector. She is a Hutchinson native and a graduate of Bethany College, where she majored in secondary education and political science.
In her new role at Hutch Rec, Gilliland is responsible for the planning and development of community festivals and various initiatives. She will continue to oversee the operations of the Healthy Neighborhood Initiative and the neighborhood development program.
