HUTCHINSON, Kan. — January was National Mentoring Month. Since 2002, National Mentoring Month has celebrated the power of mentorship and raising awareness about the need for more caring adults to step up. Right now, one-third of young people in the U.S. feel disconnected from supportive adults outside their homes. That’s a big gap, but one we can close by showing up.
Vision Leaders do more than offer advice – they provide the encouragement, guidance, and support Club members need to navigate challenges, build confidence, and dream bigger. And it doesn’t stop there! Through mentoring and programs like Up Next, the Club plays a big role in preparing young people for their futures, helping them set career goals, connect with industry professionals, and develop the skills they need to land and keep a job.

Youth Voice in Action
Our teens are helping shape the future of our Club! This year’s Youth of the year fund-the-need focused on transforming the Shadduck Park playground (and introduced future plans for the backcourt and field!) – and thanks to our incredible supporters, we reached our goal of $75,000 for Phase 1!
As part of this project, our teens shared their ideas and feedback to help design a space that is fun, safe, and built with youth in mind. We’re excited to bring their vision to life, stay tuned for updates as we move forward!
