McPHERSON, Kan. (CCCTigers.com) – The Central Christian Women’s Soccer took a tough defeat at home on Tuesday evening, falling to Wayland Baptist 2-0. It was a header off a corner kick in the 2nd minute of the 1st half that was the difference as Ashley Perez’s kick led to the score by Cecilia Lopez. After the quick goal, the Tigers took control of the game getting shots at the goal by Raquel John, Baylee Smith, Amaleigh Mattison, and Kaye Harrison, but were not able to get a goal off that flurry of shots. The Tigers came out strong to start the 2nd half with a quality shot by Sophia Cook, but was blocked by the goalie. The Tigers and Pioneers exchanged shots for the next 20 minutes, but the Pioneers were able to get an insurance goal in the 68th minute to end the scoring. Two late shot attempts at goal by Annlin Grattet and Cook, were not able to get past the goalie, and the Tigers end up dropping their 2nd straight SAC contest.
The Tigers (4-5, 0-2) return to action on the Road to take on Mid America Christian University (6-2-2, 1-1) in a SAC contest. Kickoff is slated for 4:30pm, and can be seen on the SAC Sports Network.
