McPherson, Kan. (CCCTigers.com) – Time of Possession was once again on the Women’s Soccer’s side as the Tigers dominated their side of the field throughout, however that was not enough as Central dropped 1st game of the season 3-0 to Sterling College. The Tigers outshot Sterling 15-6, but Sterling was able to get 3 goals off those 6 shots.
“We played well, we really did. We had great ball possession and had quality shots on goal, just missed a few by inches. We’re a good team, and we will bounce back and be ready Saturday."” said Coach Macahria.
The Tigers dominated the first half out shooting the Warriors 9-1, but could not get in the goal as they played to a 0-0 score in half 1. The Trio of Annlin Grattet, Amaya Chaffee, and Baylee Smith came out hot attacking the goal 8 times in a 17 minute stretch, but came up scoreless. Jessica Gautreau of Sterling made the most of the 3 shots she took, scoring on all 3. Sophia Cook and Stephanie Zazueta came off the bench and blitzed the Warriors with shots at goal in the 2nd half, but fell just short.
The Tigers (2-1) play next at home on Saturday vs. Bethel College. (0-2). Kickoff will be at 3pm.
