Women’s Basketball’s Swedes’ Black-Harmon Earns KCAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor

WICHITA, Kan. (KCACSports.com) – Ali Kamies of Evangel University and Janae Black-Harmon of Bethany College have earned the KCAC Women’s Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from Feb. 17-23 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Equity Bank.


Offensive Player of the Week

Ali Kamies – Evangel University

5-6 | Jr. | G | NIxa, Mo.

Kamies had a strong final week of regular season play, helping guide the Valor to a 2-0 week and their eighth straight victory. Kamies averaged 21.5 points per game while shooting 63.3 percent from the floor. Kamies also added 4.5 rebounds per game, two assists, and two steals to help EU secure the three seed for the conference tournament. This marks the third time this season Kamies has been named the KCAC Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week.

Defensive Player of the Week

Janae Black-Harmon – Bethany College

5-10 | Jr. | G/F | El Reno, Okla.

Janae Black-Harmon fueled the Swedes off the bench in their upsets of the two best teams in the conference at the time while averaging a double-double on the week. Against Kansas Wesleyan, the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament, Black-Harmon finished with a double-double while also racking up three blocks. Against Friends University, the No. 5 seed in the upcoming conference tournament, she put up 14 points and nine rebounds, finishing just short of a double-double while also nabbing four steals in the victory.
