CHANUTE, Kan. (GoNeosho.com) – The Panthers survived their arduous boot camp season, and now look ahead to their pre-season schedule. The Lady Panthers did not duck from playing some of the best teams in their pre-season schedule. They will see a few of the powerhouse Division I Junior Colleges; Butler, Seminole, Cowley, and Pratt Community College. They will also face a couple of four-year schools; McPherson and Baker.
The Panthers begin their season at home on November 4th against McPherson JV, followed by a road game on November 5th against nationally ranked Hutchinson Community College. Neosho will continue their non-conference schedule, with 7 of their next 13 games on the road. This year’s schedule will present a test for this young club. The Panthers will start conference action at home on January 11th against Division 2 powerhouse Johnson County Community College in Overland Park.
Neosho will seek to improve their win total from last season (20-9, 7-5). The Panthers hope to rebuild this season with 18 incoming freshmen as they compete in the country’s top Division 2 junior college league. They will approach the season with the expectation of winning. Coach Davis stated, “It is a deep league; last year, Johnson, KCK, Highland, and Allen were all ranked or received votes in the national polls.” The league is the finest in the nation for Women’s Division II Junior College Basketball. Our goal this year is to build on the legacy we’ve established over the last five years.
