McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) – The Bulldogs had a strong first half and had a near double digit lead in the second quarter, but a slow final quarter of play doomed MC as they fell to the York University Panthers on Tuesday (Feb. 11), 65-56.
The first quarter of play saw the Panthers on top at its end as MC shot just 20% from the field, but the script completely flipped come the second quarter. Unlike a handful of games this season, MC set the nets on fire in the second quarter of play. Shooting 42% from the field while hitting five three pointers, one of which being a buzzer beating three pointer from Taylor Berkheimer to give the Bulldogs a 34-29 lead heading into the locker room.
A near dead even third quarter saw York take a very slim 47-46 lead heading into the game’s final stanza. Things began to unravel for the Bulldogs in the fourth as the once red hot shooting went cold as ice. MC shot just 13% from the field and went 0-6 from behind the three point line as York pulled away late and secured a victory.
Raeghan Borman led the scoring effort for MC with 13 points while Mariah Dightman scored 12 in her first career start.
The Bulldogs will play the final home game of the season on Saturday, February 15 as they host the Friends University Falcons on Senior Night. Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
