Women’s Basketball Bulldogs Back in the Win Column

FOREST CITY, Iowa (MacBulldogs.com) — Four players scored in double figures Saturday (Nov. 25) to power the McPherson College Bulldogs to a 65-59 win over the Waldorf University Warriors in Forest City, Iowa.

Joze’ Baker led the way with 16 points and three assists, while also grabbing four rebounds and finishing with a pair of steals. Chloe Clevenger and Matisyn Moses each added 11 points, while Madelyn Hankins scored 10 points.

The Bulldogs had their best shooting percentage since Nov. 4, connecting on 39.3 percent (22-for-56) of their attempts, while shooting 6-for-17 from beyond the arc. MC also held the Warriors to just 35.2 percent from the field and a mere 16 percent from distance.

Baker scored 13 of the Bulldogs 21 first quarter points, as MC grabbed a seven-point lead after 10 minutes.

MC pushed its lead to 23-14 with a jumper from Gillian Rodgers, but the Warriors stormed back to trim the lead to 30-27 with 2:38 left in the half. The Bulldogs responded with a 7-1 burst to close out the half and take a 37-28 advantage at the break.

A triple by Clevenger early in the fourth quarter made it a 50-41 Bulldog edge, but the Warriors closed the gap, taking a 56-55 lead with just over three minutes to play. MC then used a 6-0 spurt to take control. Waldorf made one last push, but a timely three by Clevenger iced the game.

The Bulldogs are back in action Wednesday (Nov. 29) with a KCAC showdown against Kansas Wesleyan at the Sport Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
