STERLING, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – Sterling College Athletics and Vice President for Athletics Scott Downing announced today that Taya Wilson has been hired as the next Sports Information Director at Sterling College. Wilson, a 2023 graduate of Sterling College, returns to her alma mater after spending the past year in the teaching field.
“We are very excited to add Taya to our athletic staff,” said Justin Morris, Director of Athletics. “Taya is no stranger to Sterling College Athletics, and we believe she will do a great job expanding what we do to promote our student-athletes to our fans, recruits, and alumni.”
Wilson was a standout student-athlete at Sterling High School and then for the Lady Warriors during college. During her time as a Lady Warrior, Wilson excelled as a student-athlete in track and field and on the basketball team. During her collegiate career, the Lady Warrior basketball team won three KCAC Championships and two KCAC Tournament Championships. She was named the KCAC Player of the Year once and was a two-time All-American. Wilson finished their athletic career in the top ten of several categories in the women’s basketball record books.
“I am very excited about the opportunity and can’t wait to get started,” said Wilson.
Off the court, Wilson earned a degree in Sports Management and an Education degree in Exercise Science. Wilson served as the editor of the “Observer,” the school’s campus newspaper, and received the Fran Jabara Leadership Award and the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award her senior year.
Wilson will begin her duties on January 2nd, 2025.
