BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (SCWarriors.com) – The Sterling College volleyball team traveled to Oklahoma Wesleyan University this past Saturday to continue their conference play at the Eagle’s court. Despite a promising start, the Warriors could not keep up with the strong Eagle attack, putting another loss to their 2-3 conference record after a 3-set sweep.
The Warriors matched the Eagles early in the first set, keeping the score close. Sterling held an 11-10 lead early on before the Eagles scored seven of the next eight points. OKWU gained a lead and captured the momentum for the rest of the match. The scores of the three sets were 25-15, 25-15, and 25-12.
Emily Peterson led the Warriors in their attack with 4 kills, followed up by Paige Borges and Morgan Pellegrino with 3 kills each. Aubrey Young continues to serve as the Warriors lone setter and finished with 13 assists for the game. Nyah Isom led with a strong back-row presence with 13 digs in the match.
After a tough week, the Warriors look ahead to three very winnable games this upcoming week. The conference season continues at home with the Tabor Bluejays on Oct. 4 at the Gleason Center. First serve is at 7 p.m. They will then host a tri on Saturday where they will face the Friends University Falcons at 1 pm, and the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma at roughly 5 pm. Friends and USAO will play each other in between the Warrior’s matches.
