Hastings, Neb. (CCCTigers.com) – The Central Christian College of Kansas Women’s Volleyball team opened their regular season at the Hastings College Classic with four games over two days in Hastings, Nebraska.
On Friday, the Tigers took on the Coyotes of Kansas Wesleyan. The Tigers were handed their first loss of the season as Kansas Wesleyan stayed on the offensive attack for the entire match. The Tigers would fall to the Coyotes in straight sets.
After a break, the Tigers took on the host school, the Hastings Broncos. There was more life seen from Central as far as their offensive numbers go, but Hastings would overpower the Tigers. This would result in another loss in straight sets for the Tigers.
Central looked to bounce back on day two as they faced the William Woods Owls to start the day. Unfortunately, the Tigers struggled to find their footing against the Owls as they could not string consecutive points together very often. The Tigers would fall to William Woods three sets to none still in search of their first win of the season.
Hoping to finally get on track, the Tigers wrapped up their weekend against the Bethel College Threshers. In the first set, the Tigers would take an early 10-5 lead and hope to build on it. After multiple Bethel runs, the Threshers found themselves back in the set. After Central cut the deficit to one, Bethel would go on a 9-1 run to win the set 25-16. This would set the tone for the rest of the match as the Tigers fell again in straight sets this time to the Bethel Threshers.
