BOX SCORE vs. NELSON | BOX SCORE vs. TEXAS WESLEYAN
McPHERSON, Kan. (CCCTigers.com) – Game 1: The Tigers dropped Friday’s SAC contest by a score of 3-0 to Nelson University (13-4, 8-0). Nelson was able to limit their errors, and force the Tigers to 20 errors in taking the match in 3 sets 25-11, 25-16, and 25-12. Amanda Dotter led both teams with 13 kills, and Zoe Smith led with 12 assists.
Game 2: Sometimes games like this don’t tell the whole story as the much improved Tigers fall to Texas Wesleyan 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-19). Errors have been an issue all season for the Tigers, but they were able to fix that part of their game as they were able to limit the amount of mistakes, in a much closer game than what a 3-0 score would indicate. Amanda Dotter led both teams with 12 kills and 9 digs, while Alayna McCullough continued her solid play at the net with 6 blocks. Match 1 saw the Tigers lead 10 times and a lead of 5 points. Texas Wesleyan was able to score 8 of the final 10 points to sneak victory in the 1st set. Set 2 saw the Tigers lead 7 different times, but the Rams were able to score 13 of the final 16 points to win. In set 3, the Rams jumped out to a quick 4-0 start to win the game 25-19 and take the Match 3-0.
The Tigers (1-14, 1-8) return to action on Friday against the College of the Ozarks (6-6, 2-5) in Point Lookout, Mo. Play starts at 7pm, and they will follow that game with a match versus John Brown (7-10, 6-3) in Siloam Springs at 4pm on Saturday. Both matches can be seen live at the SAC Sports Network.
