McPherson, Kan. (BethanySwedes.com) – Bethany College was on the road, Tuesday, Aug. 27th taking on the Central Christian College Tigers in a weekday match that ended in a sweet Swede victory, 3-0.
Set 1: The Swedes came out ready for the Tigers who went point for point in the 1st set until the 11-11 mark. Bethany would go on a run from that point that would lead to their first set win. The Swedes finished set 1, 25-21.
Set 2: The Swedes hit their stride and exploited the Tigers’ weaknesses in the 2nd set. After battling for each point until halfway through the set, Bethany took advantage of a momentum shift and ran away with set 2. Final score 25-19.
Set 3: The Swedes would find themselves in a 5 point deficient at the start of the 3rd set, 7-12. Unfazed, Bethany would fight their way back and tie up the set at 13-13. From there, the Swedes held their momentum and made the run for the clean sweep. Final score was 25-21.
Notable Stats from this game include 13 kills, 2 blocks, hitting an overall .600 and earning 16 points was Antonette Carochi, Cara Cox with 10 digs and hitting an overall .545, Kathryn Voss with 3 service aces, and Mandy Knipp with 17 assists overall.
Up next, the Swedes host the Kansas Christian College Falcons, Thursday, Aug. 29th in Hahn Gymnasium starting at 6pm.
