Volleyball Routs Bethany at Home

McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) – The McPherson College Bulldogs took care of business Wednesday (Oct. 11) sweeping the Bethany College Swedes inside the Sport Center. With the win, the Bulldogs have won five of the last six matches.

The Bulldogs held Bethany under 10 kills in each of the three sets, including just four kills in the second set.

MC got off to a hot start and never looked back, jumping out to a 9-4 lead in the opening game before cruising to a 25-13 win. Zoe Fernandez led a balance Bulldog attack in the set with four kills. The Bulldogs finished the first frame with an attacking percentage of .417.

Things got even better for the Bulldogs in the second game, scoring 16 of the final 18 points including ten-straight to win 25-7. In the set, the Swedes did not score consecutive points.

The Bulldogs maintained that momentum in the third set, finishing with 17 kills and a .222 attacking percentage. MC scored six of the first seven points to take control early. The Swedes made a late push, but a kill by Alex Pak closed out the sweep.

Zoe Fernandez led the Bulldogs (14-6, 4-3 KCAC) with 10 kills, while Pak and Bridget McHugh added eight kills apiece. Cynarah Rodriguez had 33 assists and three kills, while Moriah Delgado finished with 12 digs.

The Bulldogs travel to Springfield, Mo., Saturday (Oct. 14) to take on KCAC newcomer Evangel, starting at 2:00 p.m.
