SALINA, Kan. (TaborBluejays.com) – Bluejay Volleyball hit the road once again as they made the short trek up north to Salina to take on Kansas Wesleyan in their third conference match of the 2024 campaign.
The Lady Bluejays entered the match fresh off their first KCAC victory as they took down Southwestern in five sets on the road in Winfield on Saturday, while the Coyotes came off a heartbreaking loss on the road at Ottawa.
KWU jumped on the board first in Set One with two quick points, before Tabor jumped on the board to tie the match early at 2-2 thanks to a Coyote service error and a block by Liana McGonigle and Katie Hofer. Two straight services aces by Naera Tschus put the Bluejays in the lead, 6-5, before the Coyotes went on a run to take a five-point lead. KWU cruised to a 10-point win to take the first set, 25-15.
Set Two looked different at the start, as Kansas Wesleyan came out of the gate hot to take a 7-2 lead. Tabor trailed by as many as seven points in the second set, before fighting back to within five, but it didn’t matter much as the Coyotes took Set Two, 25-19.
Kills by Hofer, McGonigle, Josephine Fuamatu, Juliana Alaniz, helped keep the Bluejays in the match in Set Three, but the Coyotes proved to be too much as the Bluejays fell in the third set, 25-12.
With the loss, the Lady Bluejays drop to 3-15 on the season and 1-2 in KCAC play. TC gets the weekend off to rest and the team will return to Hillsboro for a match with Sterling on Wednesday at 7pm.
