McPHERSON, Kan. – In a battle of top 5 regional teams in Class 4-1A, the McPherson High Girls Soccer team was able to improve their record to 7-1 on Friday, defeating Topeka Hayden 1-0, for their sixth win in-a-row.

The Pups had just three shots on goal but only needed one, as Alivia Villalobos was able to find the back of the net early in the match. McPherson would battle the wind in the second half, and Hayden several opportunities, but Ella Buschbom has established herself as a wall in goal. She made save after save, recording a season-high 11, for her fourth-straight shutout, as she’s allowed just four goals through the first half of the regular season.

Friday’s win concludes a seven-game homestand, and the Bullpups will now have a stretch of four in-a-row on the road. They will battle Mulvane Tuesday, at 6:30 p.m. before taking on Bishop Miege on Saturday.
