LARNED, Kan. – The Larned girls used a big second quarter to create some separation on Tuesday night in a win over the Smoky Valley girls. In a close boys contest, the Indians scored the final seven points to pick up a win to end the regular season.
Girls-Larned 61, Smoky Valley – A back and forth first quarter saw the Indians take a 12-9 lead after one, but Larned used a 19-8 second quarter to take a 14-point lead into the locker room. They would extend their lead out to 44-27 after three and then outscored the Vikings 17-5 in the final quarter in the 29-point win. Sophomore Jadyn Crosby scored ten points more than her average, putting up a game-high 23 points for Larned. Cassidy Wachs added 11 and Taeten Reynolds chipped in with 10 as the Indians finished the regular season 11-9 and 4-4 in the Central Kansas League. Smoky Valley dropped to 6-14 and 1-7 in the league. They were led by Kat Blanchat with 12 points, scoring in double figures for the 18th time in 20 games this season.

Boys-Larned 41, Smoky Valley 34 – Larned jumped out to a 6-0 lead and led 9-4 after one quarter, but the Vikings went on a 8-0 run to start the second quarter, taking a 12-9 lead. The Indians finished the second quarter with a 12-5 spurt to lead by four at half. Smoky Valley regained a 29-28 lead after three. Tied at 34 late in the fourth quarter, the Indians scored the final seven points for the win. Kylier Greene was the only Larned player in double figures, scoring 11 points. The Indians finished the regular season 7-13 and 2-6 in the CKL, while the Vikings fell to 4-16 and 1-7. Braylon Olson scored a game-high 19 for Smoky Valley and Ty Heitschmidt poured in 12 in the loss.
