CHANUTE, Kan. (CCCTigers.com) – In a hot Kansas afternoon, the Cross Country teams travelled to Neosho County Community College for the NCCC Panther Invite. Chloe Clevenger finished in the top 15 as she battled some heat illness throughout the 2nd half of the race, as she was running in 3rd place through the 1st half. Dalton Clark led the men with a 25th place in a hard fought 33:00 for the 8000 meter race. Philip Soclo finished close behind in 32nd place. It was both Clark and Soclo’s 1st ever race at the 8000 meter distance.

“I was very happy with how we competed. We knew it would be hot, and it was one of the hotter races I’ve coached. We knew times might not be very fast. We wanted to see how we would compete. I was thrilled with Dalton’s race. He was able to move up throughout, and didn’t seem like the heat got to him. I’m looking forward to the Swenson meet, where we can run in front of our student body,” stated Coach Clevenger following the Panther Invite.

The Cross Country team will compete next at the Carol Swenson Invitational hosted by McPherson College, this Saturday, October 12th. The Course at Bulldog Park will have the Men’s 8k compete at 9am, and the Women’s 5k at 9:45am. The Course is at 1000 S. Centennial St. In McPherson.
