WICHITA, Kan. (TaborBluejays.com) – The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) announced their selection for the KCAC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week award on Tuesday afternoon.

Miyah McGee was named as this week’s KCAC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week after her performance in last week’s games against Southwestern and Oklahoma Wesleyan. Tabor secured a 66-44 victory over the Moundbuilders on Wednesday and followed up with another conference win against the Eagles, defeating them 71-41 on Saturday afternoon.

McGee was a solid defensive force against both teams last week, holding Macey Pond, Southwestern’s second leading scorer, to zero points on 0-8 shooting for the night. During that game, she also grabbed three defensive boards. McGee was also a part of the effort to hold two of Oklahoma Wesleyan’s top three scorers, Shade Richardson & Haley Meely, to a combined 11 points on 4-16 shooting (25%). She added three more defensive rebounds and one steal to her weekly total as well.

For the week, the Lady Bluejays’ defense held their two opponents to 31-106 from the field (29%) and 6-24 from the three-point line (25%) and forced a total of 29 turnovers without pressing.

This is McGee’s second time earning this award for an outstanding defensive performance this season, with her previous recognition occurring on Nov. 4, 2024. McGee’s consistent defensive excellence has been a key factor in the Lady Bluejays’ success throughout the season.
