LINDSBORG, Kan. (BethanySwedes.com) – The Bethany College Swedes Men’s Basketball team played host to the Friends University Falcons for the Swedes’ third game of the week. It was a contest full of runs that resulted in the Swedes falling 89-68 after tying it up early in the second half.
Emmanuel Akpan would lead the Swedes in scoring with 20 points going seven-for-seven from the charity stripe. Kenny Haynes would pile on 17 more points shooting five-for-nine from downtown. Haynes has average 24.0 ppg this week hitting at a clip of 48.6% from beyond the three-point arc.
Devin Spencer continued to show that his defensive IQ is one of the best in the NAIA averaging a NAIA-high 3.5 steals per game so far this season. Tonight, Spencer nabbed four more steals to go along with six assists, four rebounds and 11 points.
Tonight was a rough night for Bethany as the Swedes shot 33% from the field, were outrebounded 36-23 and allowed 58 points in the paint.

The Swedes have a big night coming up on Wednesday, January 22, as they take on the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes in Salina, Kan. at Mabee Arena. The Coyotes are coming off a 77-74 loss the Evangel University and will look to also get back on a winning track. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 PM following the completion of the women’s contest.
