LINDSBORG, KAN. (BethanySwedes.com) – The Bethany College Baseball Team hired on Yoberth Marchan and Noel Perez to join their staff.
Yoberth Marchan is a former Bethany College baseball player who earned some impressive honors while playing for the Swedes. He was All-KCAC Second Team in 2017 and followed that with an All-KCAC First Team season while leading the conference in strikeouts.
“I’m feeling exceptionally blessed right now with the opportunity that God put in front of me, giving me the opportunity to come back home Bethany College to be a member of the Baseball Staff as the pitching coach,” said Coach Marchan. “I want to thank Olan Ortiz for trusting on me and we will work hard to succeed. Let’s go Swedes!!”
After Bethany, Yoberth went on to coach baseball at Camp Takajo in Naples, Maine and in Barquisimeto, Venezuela.
Head Baseball Coach Olan Ortiz: “I am very excited to have Coach Marchan leading the pitching staff for us. I have known him for years and I know he is capable of doing his job and help us reach our goals. He is very familiar with our conference as he played for us years ago and was at the top of this conference in all the pitching categories. He brings a lot of energy, experience, and knowledge to this program.”
Yoberth received his Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management in 2019.
Noel Perez is another former Bethany College baseball player who’s playing days were a little more recent. Perez was a career .294 hitter with 31 doubles and four homeruns. He played all over the infield and occasionally in the outfield and was a sure glove no matter where he was with a fielding percentage of .911.
Newly-named Coach Perez: “I am grateful for this opportunity and ready to get to work with the boys!”
“I am very excited to have Coach Perez back with us, but this time as a coach,” said Head Coach Ortiz. “He brings a lot of energy and passion to this program and the game of baseball. Excited to see him take over our infielders and help with our offense. He knows this conference very well and I know he is ready to take the next step in his coaching career and I am very glad he is in our coaching staff.”
Noel will continue to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice while coaching at Bethany.
